Passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at her home in beaches area of Toronto. Eleanor was in her 82nd year and was the beloved wife of the late Bruce for 47 years. Born Eleanor May Pugsley in Toronto to parents Harold and Muriel Pugsley (nee Nichols), Eleanor grew up in Toronto and spent much of her youth at the family cottage on Lake Simcoe in Hawkstone, Ontario. She also attended Ryde Lake CGIT camp in Gravenhurst. Eleanor graduated East York Collegiate and went on to work for Abitibi Paper Products.
After meeting Bruce, the love of her life, they moved to the Beaches area and never left. Long time members of the Balmy Beach Club, they spent many a day lawn bowling, socializing and enjoying a glass of wine with friends at the Club. Eleanor and Bruce travelled extensively, and enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas and spending winters in Sun City Florida.
Eleanor will always be remembered for her kindness, caring and quick wit. She was a strong arm for younger brother Bill and his wife to lean on over the years. Eleanor’s love for her Yorkie’s was evident and she could often be seen walking her dog Pugsley in the upper beach neighbourhood where she lived.
Eleanor will be dearly missed by her brother Bill and her nieces and nephews Pam, Krista, Chris and David and her countless friends.
The family requests no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to the Balmy Beach Club (Lawn Bowling Section) at the foot of Beech Ave.
Due to Covid 19, a private family service will be held at Giffen Mack and a virtual service will be available on the web Thursday January 28th, at 1PM. Please see the Giffen Mack website for a link to the online service details.
