Edric-Luke Obillo Tumaneng

Born December 24, 2002 in Toronto, Edric was the son of Edna (Obillo) Tumaneng and Edmund Tumaneng and he was the best Christmas gift. Edric had the best smile, an infectious laugh, and was wonderfully and creatively mischievous. He was the younger brother of Edrianne-Alexa Tumaneng, and he was one of his sister’s first best friends, chasing each other laughing through their home and across road trips to and through Florida, Disney World, Mexico, California, the eastern United States and eastern Canada.

Because of his autism, he spent most of his life being looked after and then defying expectations. Edric graduated from Holy Name Catholic School where he learned the joys of playgrounds and slinkies, while being supported by an amazing teaching staff. In May 2023, Edric graduated high school from St. Patrick Catholic Secondary School, where his class explored Toronto, he learned how to cook and he discovered his love of running and yoga, while being taught and taken care of by the most incredible and loving teaching staff.

Edric loved food (notably cookies) and would sneak into everyone’s snack drawers. He loved cars, trains, and road trips, and even while sick, he got excited about ambulance rides. He loved going on walks and exploring the parks and swings across Toronto. He loved swimming and water, and spent countless afternoons swimming with his family as a child. He loved Disney, Dreamworks and Despicable Me and his family is grateful for all the times they watched movies together when he was a child to rewatching Cars and Toy Story in the hospital together.

He was resilient, strong, charming and kind; he fought so hard and we’re so proud of him. He loved our family and we love him. Edric is survived by his parents, his sister and a slew of loved ones who supported his care and built him an incredible, fun and meaningful life in a heartbreakingly short 21 years. We will miss him for the rest of our lives.

Edric was deeply spiritual, so all prayers are welcome. A Memorial Service for Edric will be held at St. Joseph's Parish located at 162 Leslie Street, Toronto Ontario, M4M-3C7 on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:30 am followed by a reception.
