Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Helen Smith, formerly of Baden, and his late beloved partner, Mathew Wilson, of Toronto. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his brother, William Smith of Windsor, sister Shirley and Bill Armstrong of London, nephews Sean and (Nancy) Percival of Grande Prairie , Jesse Percival of London, Jason (Karen) Smith of Oakville, and niece Sara (Smith) and Dave Lewis of Morriston.
Also lovingly remembered by dear friends Steven Campbell, Toronto, and Denise Crowder, Milton, and by many close friends.
Doug was born in his beloved Toronto and resided there for most of his life. While working full time, Doug obtained his BA through Ryerson University and his MBA from Athabasca University. He engaged in a successful career at Schneider Canada as Trade Compliance Customs Manager for Canada for 25 years. He was well respected and highly valued in his career.
Doug loved the arts, theatre, opera, dance, classical music, soccer, travel, animals (especially cats) and his friends. He was a kind, gentle soul who left us all with many happy memories. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Doug’s name to the Toronto Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
