Dorothy "Betty" Elizabeth Reid

Dorothy Elizabeth Reid (Betty), aged 88, of Toronto passed away peacefully on December 8/2024. Born on November 19th/1936 in Sydney Nova Scotia, then residing in San Francisco and Toronto for most of her life. Betty lived a life defined by kindness, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.

A devoted mother, she is survived by her children David (Lisa), Lori (Joe) and was a cherished grandmother to Lucas,Summer, Luke, Kellyn and Reese.

She also leaves behind her partner Vince Simmons, many cousins and friends, her best and “younger” cousin Mary Lou Scott and a slew of her children’s friends who affectionately referred to her as “Ma”.

Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her main Personal Support Worker, Hirati, and her neighbour Ildiko Komady ,who provided support, love and care for her during the last seven years of her life.

A celebration/funeral will take place Tuesday December 17th/2024 at Giffen Mack Funeral Home. (2570 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1L3). Visitation will take place from 1:00pm-3:00pm with a service from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital.

She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
