It was a real pleasure to know Allen the last 9 years. I first met Allen while working outside of Covenant House. He showed me ropes as he introduced me to the senior staff and the neighbours like the INS convenience store. 

His smile, laugh, and upbeat personality will be dearly missed. I send my condolences to his family, life time friends, and all that knew him.

Rest easy,  Allen.

Allen will be missed by all who knew him at Covenant House.  He was never without a friendly smile and wave.  I didn't see Allen on a daily basis but when did, I walked away feeling good knowing that such a kind and supportive man was there to greet young people as they entered our doors.

Thank you Allen for the many years of service and friendship you brought to Covenant House.

To say you will be missed Allen would be an understatement, you were one of the kindest, sweetest human I have ever had the honour of calling my friend. You always made me feel happy just being in your presence, it was one of your many gifts. To Allen’s family I extended my sincere condolences on behalf of my whole family. The love never dies it stays with you in your heart forever.

Allen will be remembered for his kind heart, warm smile, and the strength of his spirit. He had an infectious sense of humour and a generosity that touched the lives of those around him. Whether Allen was being a supportive co-worker,  an excellent liaison with Covenant House Neighbours or with the youth he served for over two decades, Allen’s presence was a comfort to many.  I already miss his  infectious smile and gentle manner!!

While Allen’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends, his memory will live on in the love he gave and the kindness he spread throughout his life.

For nearly 3 years at Covenant House I would say goodnight to Allen at the end of my work day, as I passed the desk on the way out. He was always a calm and warm presence there. He knew everyone and the house felt safe with him in it. Allen you will be so deeply missed.

Am deeply saddened for the family, on the passing, of a young man, who was so full of life.  I recall, with many smiles, Alan's love for discovery and adventure, when he was young,  He is one who has survived, many trials, and, yet, lived his life fully and with love.  I can only imagine Alan, how much  you are missed, by all your loved ones.   I am grateful you are my cousin, and you remain in my heart and soul forever. xoxoox

Sincere Condolences from cousins Cheryl,Dorothy,Rosalind Viki, and Gwana Aunt Mae's girls. We all have very fond memories of Allen- his smile, his humor and his kindness. He always showed nothing but love.

Allen was one of the kindest people
I have ever come across. In my time working with him at Cov (1999-2008) he always had a snack to share - something he was convinced was worth you trying and if you liked it he made sure the next shift that he brought you your own stash.  So many good memories, from his rapport with the youth to him biking all over Toronto and beyond. Never wanted to catch a ride, he had it covered. His laugh/chuckle was instantly recognizable, sometimes mischievous, and always always always gave 100% in anything he did. He took his job very seriously, but was also forgiving and understanding. Covenant House has lost one of its brightest stars. Hugs to you all, and to his family as well. I’m sure he will keep watch and continue to protect. Xo

Allen Higgins you were an original!

Allen loved his beloved cats & they loved him in return.

I remember how much Allen loved the UK TV soap opera 'Coronation Street' he never missed a show. We went together to the CNE when there were Coronation Street meet & greets. We had a lot of fun.

When I knew him, Allen loved his Tim Horton's especially 'roll up the rim' he saved all the cups & would 'roll up the rim' when he had over 25 or more cups, never one at a time. 

I know how hard Allen worked at Covenant House, he was 'Cheech" to the kids. A very loyal Covenant House staff member.

Allen loved his food & his snacks, carrying a bag everywhere he went.

Goodbye Allen Higgins, you will be missed, there was nobody like you. Rest in Peace - Allen Higgins I hope there are tons of snacks in heaven. 

My condolences to all of Allen's family. To his friends & associates at Covenant House. I know he will be greatly missed.

Allen was a sweet & kind person who always made me smile. I loved hearing his stories about his fun times with his buddy John and other things that made him happy.  My deepest condolences to his family.  He will be dearly missed.
