Ryan James Ritchie

Died: March 8, 2024

Ryan, age 32, was born in Suffern, N.Y. and grew up in Mahwah, N.J. He is survived by his young son, James Ritchie, his parents, Gene and Gail Ritchie of Manchester, N.J, his brother, Sean Ritchie (Jackie) of Kearny, N.J. His extended family includes many aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he enjoyed holidays and special occasions.

Ryan went to the Academy of Saint Paul, Ramsey, N.J. and graduated from Paramus Catholic High School, Paramus, NJ. He attended Ramapo College of New Jersey, Mahwah, N.J. and La Salle University in Pennsylvania, where he played rugby. He worked in a variety of construction jobs where he quickly learned an assortment of valuable skills. His favorite times were when he was on the rugby pitch. He played for “Old Blue” in NYC, for Morris Lions in Morristown, N.J. and Monmouth Rugby Football Club in Red Bank, N.J.

Ryan was always available to help someone. He enjoyed building a roaring fire in the fireplace, working out at the gym, learning history and visiting historical sites, especially Williamsburg, V.A.

Ryan was loved unconditionally and will be missed by his family and friends, including his Godparents James and Maureen O’Keefe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, N.J. 08746 on Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 am following a viewing at the same location. Internment will take place at Cedar Park & Bethel Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus N.J. 07652.
