Regina Fedor Majeski Brady passed away on July 1. She was 88. Regina was a lifelong resident of Toms River and was born in Lakewood, NJ to Count and Countess Chester and Estelle Fedor. Regina’s father was Captain of the Guard to Czar Nicholas II, and was forced to flee Russia during the Bolshevik Revolution. Her father was instrumental in acquiring and starting the Rova Farm community in Jackson, NJ. “Regi” as she was known to her family and friends, grew up with her brother Chester, who predeceased her. She lived in the Pleasant Plains section of Toms River where her family operated a Turkey farm, and Real Estate business. She attended Saint Mary’s Academy in Lakewood, NJ, skipped a grade and attended the Original Toms River High School. At age 16 she entered Georgian Court College and graduated at age 19 with a degree in Elementary Education.
Regi began her lifelong love of teaching at Saint Mary’s Academy, moving to Switlick Elementary School in Jackson and then to the Toms River Education System from which she retired in 1992.
Regi married Anthony J. Majeski, MD, in 1957 and promptly started her family. Dr. Majeski settled in Toms River to start his practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Anthony served in the Medical corps in post war Europe, leaving with the rank of Captain. Regi and Anthony went on to have four children, Mark, Thomas, Regina and Deidre. Regi was predeceased by her husband, Anthony in 1978.
Throughout her 35 years as an educator, teaching primarily at Hooper Avenue Elementary School, Regi inspired many of her students to experience life through art, channeling their creativity into lifelong learning experiences.
While at Hooper Avenue Elementary School, Regi continued her pursuit of education and obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Georgian Court University.
Regi lived everyday of her life to the fullest, enjoying many outings and activities with her lifelong friends.
Regi remarried in 1986 to Joseph J Brady, who owned a commodities exchange brokerage firm. Joseph had served in the Korean War, attaining the rank of captain. They were married at Saint Mary’s of the Lake Church in Lakewood and spent the next 7 years traveling, enjoying the company of their many friends and helping with the grandchildren. After a brief illness, Joseph passed away in 1993.
Regi could speak Polish and Russian, and enjoyed cooking many of the passed on family recipes taken from the Russian, Polish, French and Armenian influences.
Upon her retirement, Regi became very involved with the Catholic Daughters of America, where she graciously served as Regent and Vice Regent for over twenty years.
Regi was very proud of and devoted to her family, she was happiest when attending the many gatherings and holidays with her family and friends.
Regis’s caring nature and spirit, her love of life, will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love her.
Regi is survived by her children, Dr. Mark Majeski and his wife, Debra of Toms River, Thomas Majeski and his fiancé Carole Brennan Valpone of Toms River, Regina Stefany and her husband William of Holmdel, Deidre Ballington and her husband, Hunter of Little Silver. Regi is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexandra, Kristina, Olivia and Nicholas Majeski, Thomas, Michelle and Michael Majeski, Michael Stefany, and Blake Ballington; and great granddaughter Ava Majeski; and step-grandson Jay Ballington.
Visiting will be held Wednesday, July 6th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home. 703 Main St. Toms River. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake R.C. Church, Lakewood. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lakewood.
