Maria was born to Andrea Curcio and Maria Rosa (Carmela) Prinzo on March 25, 1931 in Gorga, Italy where she was honored to be named "Miss Gorga." There, she met the love of her life Nichola Ippolito and married him on October 25, 1952. They had their first child, Olivio, in Italy, and then immigrated to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1953 where they had three more children, Anthony, Sandy, and Rosemary.
Maria worked as a seamstress in Jersey City for many years until she and her family moved to Toms River, NJ in 1988. She continued to work in a nursing home for several years where her compassion shown through as a patient aid until she retired in 1992.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, Maria was a talented seamstress, amazing chef, an avid gardener. She loved spending time outside in nature and enjoyed taking long walks around her neighborhood. Her friendly and generous nature were her most admired attributes and earned her the nickname “Mama” from everyone who knew her, not just her immediate family. She read her Bible, prayed her rosary, and watched mass daily. She shared her unwavering faith in God with those who surrounded her. She was an inspiration and role model to all who had the honor of knowing her.
Maria joins her husband Nicola and her sons Olivio and Anthony in Heaven. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Senti and Myles Kramer, and Rosemary and Luca DiTommaso. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Nancy and her husband Ben, Maria and her husband Craig, Angela and her husband Matthew, Luca, and Maria, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Angelina, Jenna, Olivia, Laila, Craig Jr., Myla, Giacomo, Daisy, and Daphne.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4-7 from at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. A Mass will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 10am am at St. Joseph Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River.
