Margaret “Peggy” Vernaleken, 90, of Whiting, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 in the comfort of her own home. She was predeceased by her siblings, Eleanor Natale, Dorothy, Theodore, George and Ruth Vernaleken, and her nephew, Thomas Vernaleken. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Peggy Golitko of Westwood, John Vernaleken of Clifton, Lynn Natale of Mayetta, and Karen Natale of Toms River, along with their children and grandchildren.
Born in Rutherford, Peggy subsequently resided in Wood-Ridge, Weehawken, Manhattan, and lastly, Whiting. She was a dedicated worker, with many years of employment at various advertising agencies. She ultimately retired from Citibank, where she was a copywriter for their international newsletter. A lover of the arts, Peggy enjoyed New York City, photography, painting, and sketching. She was passionate about travel, with various adventures ranging from visiting famous European museums to flying into an active Hawaiian volcano. Spending quality time with family and friends was always her priority. Known fondly to many as “Aunt Peg”, she will be long-remembered for her friendliness, enthusiasm, and engaging personality.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, NJ.
