Margaret Ellen King, 88 years old, died on March 16, 2024 at her home in Atria, an assisted living facility in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Marge, or Margie, as she liked to be called, was born on April 2, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey. First born of Margaret Veronica and William Aloysius Carlock. She was preceded in her death by her youngest daughter, Gwen Grabinsky and her brother, William Carlock, both who were very dear to her.
Marge is survived by her sister, Charlene "Jesse" Carlock, daughters Margaret "Peggy" Weber and Laureen Del Priore. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Marge's first priority was her family, and she loved them all. She was especially thankful for her grandchildren who brought her so much pleasure and joy.
Marge was a natural leader. After graduating from Snyder High School, she went on to a management role in a large discount store, and later rose to head of an accounts receivable department for a corporation in Newark, New Jersey. While working in accounting, Marge persevered as a part-time student for many years and in mid-life earned a B.A. in accounting.
Marge retired and later moved into a church-affiliated retirement building in Spotswood, New Jersey. There she assumed the role of president of a residents club in that building. For many years, Marge planned and carried out an entire plate of activities for its member. She loved a good party and planned many social activities and fundraisers there. Marge also volunteered to tutor elementary school students while there and taught numerous AAA driving courses for seniors. Marge, who had always loved teaching, was a dynamic teacher and thrived in this role.
Marge will be sorely missed by all those who loved her. We wish her peace and send our love along with her.
