John E. Rinker, 87, of Toms River, NJ, passed away at home on May 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York City, NY, the oldest of 11 siblings, and lived in the Bronx, NY, before moving to Toms River in 1976. He was a retired Verizon Executive, working out of Manhattan, NY. John enjoyed playing golf, gardening, traveling, and bowling. He was a self-taught artist. John especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grand-children and great-grandchildren. One of the highlights of John’s day was enjoying breakfast with his “Fast Break Family” at the Fast Break Restaurant in Toms River. His companion-ship and zest for life will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife Hannah Rinker, and his parents John and Nancy Rinker. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Winters, who was also his devoted best friend and Barbara Rossi; his granddaughters: Jaime Kearney and Caitlin Winters; and his great-grandchildren: Ryan and Sarah.
Visitation will be Monday, May 14th, from 2 to 6PM with a 5:30PM Prayer Service at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Cremation will be private. Donations in John’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
