James Edward Crane, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at his home in Toms River, New Jersey. He was born on June 18, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey to Hilda and Charles Crane. Jim was the middle son of three boys. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet L. Crane and his five children, James E. Crane, Jr., Steven M. Crane, Gary A. Crane, Kenneth W. Crane and Lisa A. Ansbro. He had seven grand children and three great-grandchildren. After graduating high school, he entered the military and served in the Army for two years and later served in the Coast Guard Reserve. He had a long and successful career working for Western Electric and provided a good life for his family. He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Toms River. He loved supporting his children as they grew up and was active in Boy Scouts participating in many camping trips and canoe trips down the Delaware River. He loved presidential history. He always had an inspirational quote or phrase to share with you. Jim was a much loved patriarch of the Crane family and will be greatly missed.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. A Funeral Service will occur Friday, September 10, 2021 at 9:30 AM, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. A Committal Service and Military Honors will Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
