James H. Brunson

James Brunson was born on May 6, 1956, to the late James and Evelyn Brunson in New York, New York. He was the oldest of three children, one preceded him in death. James received his formal education through the New York City Public School System.

James was very good with his hands so whenever he had an opportunity, he would do construction work and paint apartment units. James lived in Brooklyn for 15 years before moving to Staten Island, New York a little over a year ago.

Within the last year, James had a new lease on life, and he began to live it to the fullest. During this time, he reconnected with his sister, who he affectionately called “lil sis”. James loved his family and tried to attend as many family events as possible especially after his reunion. The love he had for his family and friends was infectious. and he will be missed by them all.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter FaShawn Slaughter, one sister Lillian (Dervin) Smalls, one uncle, Josie Smith, nieces Shanequa (Glenn) Hunter, Cherrell Smalls, Shatrina Smalls, Shaneese Smalls and Chanell Small, one nephew Jeff Green, and a host of great nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his father James Brunson, mother Evelyn Brunson, and brother Stanley Brunson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10 am to 2:00 pm, with a funeral service at 12:00 pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Cremation is private.
