I am so sorry to hear of Jimmie Bigg's passing.  My grandmother, Helen (Young) Ford and his mother Gert were sisters. I remember he and Kathy coming to my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary party, as well as other times when he would stop by to see "Aunt Helen".  My grandmother always enjoyed his visits.  May God give his family peace and comfort at this time.

"The optimist sees the donut while the pessimist sees the hole." These words were spoken by Reverend Biggs during many a sermon that I received as a child. Jim was forever the optimist, setting an example for me that I try to carry with me everywhere I go. 

I am heartbroken to hear of passing Reverend Biggs. He and Mrs. Biggs always made me feel like I had a home after losing my family  as a teenager. Always warm, always welcoming and always kind .I will be forever grateful and wish I had taken the opportunity prior to now to tell him thank you and what an impact it had on my life. Love and prayers to all the family . 

Jim has been such a good friend for many years since we moved to Island Heights about 1969.  We shared so many good times together.  A trip to Disney with all of our children.  We talked and laughed an entire two weeks, even over doing laundry!  Jim drove to Florida to help transport a boat and took a 3:00 am flight back to NJ to vote on election day.  What and  sport!  We shared fun and sad times over the years.  Teen  troubles, weddings funerals, illness, anniversaries.  We don’t see each other as often now, but when we do we pick up right where we left off.  

Jim had an infectious laugh the could light up the world.  Once in a Disney shop Jim and Frank were laughing when Kathy and I heard a clerk say,   “I wish those guys would stop cackling and lay that egg.”

Kathy and family we are so sorry for your loss,  our hearts are broken too.  To Kathy, children and grandchildren, you were the light if his life and he loved to brag about you to everyone!  Jim, we will see you again on the other side and pick up right where we left off.

I grew up in Island Heights and was a member of the Island Heights Methodist Church.  When Reverend Biggs started there I remember loving his sermons because they were so relatable and he always threw in a joke that would make you smile.  Reverend Biggs married us in 1971 my sister shortly after and my nephew 43 year later.  Years and years  later we contacted him and asked if he would speak at my Mom's memorial service and even thought we hadn't been in touch for sometime, it was like we saw him yesterday.  He spoke of my Mom like she was family and it was so emotional.  He was just an awesome person and my entire family loved him.  We are so very sorry to learn of his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.  He was one of the "good ones".  RIP Reverend Biggs. xo

I was lucky enough to have know Jim for  almost  50 years. First from  Sunday school at the Methodist Church in Island Heights , to being a dear friend of my father Phil Stocco for well over that period .  I will never forget the advice and guidance he had provided to me and my family during life's curve balls , time and time again. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.


So sorry to hear of Kathy and families' loss.  I probably have not seen Kathy or Jim for years, but I do remember your wedding and pictures. Of course Aunt Myrt kept us up to speed.  Prayers for all of you.

We will miss Jim at the Toms River Rotary meetings, his prayers for us were always inspirational!!

Reverend Biggs has been in my life for almost 45 years, hard to believe.  He was the first Minister I remember and I have always consider him our family Minister.  He served the Lord for many more years than I was fortunate to know him.

Of course, anyone who was close to The Rev. knows he could be irreverent, a prankster and often the first in a group with some kind of smart-aleck remark.  His humor was infectious.  His sense of humor did more to attract people to the Church than his compelling sermons.   That is not to dimish his work from the pulpit.  

When I was looking at colleges in the South, he was quick to give me sound advice that was consistent with his humor.  While mimicking a Southern Bell, he told me how sweet young ladies in the South were.  To set the record straight I did not follow his advice and attended Rutgers University.  I met my wife, Mary, in high school so a college romance with a Southern Bell was off the table.  Of course, I could resist listening to him mimic a Southern Bell.

I cannot tell you how many times he went out of his way to Minister to my families.  He married Mary and me in Marlton NJ.  He Baptised our first child, Ashleigh in Kennebunk Maine. Came to the Pine Barrons to help celebrate my wife's Grandparents 50th, I think,  Wedding Anniversary and Baptize our second child Brittany.  He came to Pennsylvania to celebrate one of my parent's significant Wedding Anniversaries.  He was always there and I consider him and Kathy family.  

Mary and I send our condolences to Kathy and their family.  We know how much he will be missed.  We are so fortunate to have had Reverend Biggs as part of our lives and cherish every memory we have.
