Betty J. Burkhart

Betty Jean Burkhart (nee French), age 94 of Bayville, NJ passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at home. The daughter of the late Stanley Frederick “Fred” French and Beatrice Annie French (nee Glady). She was born July 6, 1929 in England. She moved to America with her first late husband Victor Quick in the 1950’s following her parents and siblings who had already immigrated to America in 1949. Her first job in America was at Acme Supermarket located in Ramsey, NJ. She moved to Toms River, NJ and in 1971 she became a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked at the Town & Country Nursing Center. She remarried later in life to the late Robert Burkhart. She had no children of her own but when she married Bob (Robert), she became a stepmother to his three grown children.

Betty was a caring person, loyal friend, devoted sister, and beloved aunt, stepmother and step nana who will be deeply missed.

She was predeceased by her parents Stanley Frederick French and Beatrice Annie French (nee Glady). Sister Beatrice Clara “Trixie” Kidd and brother Charles Stanley French. Nephews Robert Kidd and Douglas Kidd.

Survivors include her brother William John French of Toms River, NJ. Nieces, Diane Pelino, Wendy Sochulak and Gail Lewis. Nephews, Russell Kidd, Gregory Dias, Lawrence Dias, and Michael French. Betty’s three stepchildren, Susan Lattanzio, Cheryl Harrell and Robert Burkhart, and many step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River, NJ on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 11am-1pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm. Burial immediately following at Riverside Cemetery, 1001 Lakewood Road, Toms River, NJ.
