Barbara J. Nick

Barbara J. Nick, 71, of Freehold, NJ passed away on Monday November 26, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Born in Newark, NJ, Barbara was raised in Union and lived there until she moved to Freehold 39 years ago. She was a teacher for the Manalapan-Englishtown School District for 37 years retiring in 2006, and upon her retirement, she became a member of Ocean County Retired Educators Association (OCREA). Her retirement also allowed Barbara to research her family's history and study genealogy, which became a passion for her. In addition to tracing the family's roots, she volunteered at the Family History Center in Eatontown, NJ. Barbara always enjoyed traveling and spent a lot of her retirement seeing the world with her sister Linda and family. Additionally, she was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima RC Church in Freehold for 39 years.

Barbara is survived by her loving sister Linda Schmidt of Toms River, her nephew James Schmidt of Toms River, and her niece Cherylann Schmidt and her husband Bill Wynne of Ewing, NJ.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08757. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Freehold, NJ. Entombment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold, NJ.
