Annamarie McCarthy

The family of Annamarie McCarthy is saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the age of 66. She was born in Passaic to Mary and Vincent Cauterucci. She was the fifth of their eleven children. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Westfield, NJ where she attended Holy Trinity Grammar School and High School. She attended St Bonaventure University and met the love of her life, Joe McCarthy. She transferred to Kean University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Soon after, Annamarie and Joe were married - a love that lasted for over 41 years. She worked in retail services and insurance. In 1984, they moved to Toms River and had three children – Carolyn, Joseph, and Matthew. Annamarie was a dedicated mother, supporting her children in all their endeavors from academics and sports to their careers and families. After her children were in school, she worked as a teacher’s assistant in Ocean Gate. She loved late afternoon trips to the beach, gardening, family vacations, and traveling with her husband. Annamarie hosted many family celebrations at her home. Her generous heart was always available to family and friends. Her newest passion was her grandchildren and figuring out ways to make them smile.

Annamarie was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Vincent Cauterucci and brother, Peter. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, daughter Carolyn Lieu (Vincent), granddaughters Maya and Emily, son Joseph McCarthy (Corina), grandson JJ, and son Matthew McCarthy (Kelley). She is also survived by her brother James Cauterucci (Diana), brother Frank Cauterucci (Barbara), brother Richard Cauterucci, sister Dolores Talvy (Bruce), brother Vincent Cauterucci (Catherine), sister Judith Prior(Stephen), brother John Cauterucci (Deborah Mongene), brother Michael Cauterucci (Diane), sister Mary Godfrey (Paul), and many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

A visitation for Annamarie will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. Internment will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
