Richard Carroll Adams (Dick) passed away on March 21, 2025. He was the loving husband of Mildred Adams for 70 years, and they had an extraordinary partnership in life. He was the beloved father of Gail McCormick, Mark Adams, Cheryl Adams, and Holly Hynson. He was dear brother to Douglas Adams, the late Robert Adams, and the late Ross Williamson. He had two grandchildren, Emma and Ashley Hynson.
Dick was a gentle man - calm, and supportive. Dick was always ready to help anybody, his coworkers, neighbors, family and friends. He was caring and supported many charities, and he was a Red Cross blood donor for many years. His Catholic faith guided him and his family.
He worked for Martin Marietta for over 20 years, and then managed several restaurants (McDonalds and English’s Chicken) and Toys R Us. He was also a manager for several oil change shops. His favorite job was as a courier for Central Delivery Service, and he worked at that until he was in his 70s. He loved talking with people.
He was an active member and officer with the Social Brothers Pleasure Club for over 25 years. The club provided various events for its members and families.
Dick and Millie had beautiful flower gardens with ornamental trees. Millie planned the gardens, and Dick planted them and tended to them. Millie used some of the flowers for table arrangements.
Holidays and birthdays were always celebrated with family dinners, with delicious food and often elaborate table décor. Millie did the cooking, and Dick would help get everything together and on the table. Dad loved doing the grocery shopping, too.
Dick and Millie loved to take ocean cruises, starting in the 1990s. They traveled all over the world. They loved to visit their son, Mark, in Florida and would often cruise from Tampa.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 12 to 2pm at which time Richard’s life will be celebrated at 2p.m. Entombment to follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
