Murray Bonéy was born December 8th, 1948, in Austin, Texas to Samuel Murray Boney Jr. and Ruby Stein Rose. He was the first of seven siblings born to this union. He and his mother and siblings moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota when he was 14 years old.
Murray Boney attended Oakwood College and received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1971. It was there he met many lifelong friends. He also met his future father-in-law, Cleveland Tivy, and told him then, after seeing a picture of Julie L. Tivy, that he would marry her one day. Years later he indeed would meet her and made that proclamation come true and married Julie on July 6th, 1975. The union was blessed with a son Cleveland, and a daughter, Crystal.
Murray Boney enjoyed a career at 3M for 29 years as a technical engineer and retired to Southern California in 2001. He was a faithful member of the Glendale SDA church in Minnesota and Kansas Avenue SDA church in Southern California.
On March 20th, 19 days after Julie the love of his life passed, he peacefully went to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish him with many loving and joyous memories, his beloved children Cleveland Boney and his wife Kimberly Boney, and Crystal Hemphill and her husband Anthony Hemphill; devoted sisters Alma and Rebecca, his loving Brothers Mark, Sam, James and Louis adoring grandchildren, Christopher Hemphill, Cameron Hemphill, Carter Hemphill, Ashley Hemphill, Alex Boney and Braxton Boney; dear great grandchild Ashten Hemphill; and a litany of nieces and nephews.
