Barbara Lois Lems, a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on August 16, 1932, she is the devoted mother of Cassandra Lems, Roberta Levine and her husband Marty, Susan Jones and her husband Ken, Mary Jenkins and her husband Kye, Andrea Davison, and Patricia Brumbach and her husband Kevin; cherished grandmother of Pete Jackson, Samantha Levine, David Levine, Rory Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Jessica Rutherford, and Lily Davison; great grandmother of Henry and Charlotte Jackson and Roger and Roman Rutherford; dear sister of John Michael Miles and his wife Loretta; loving aunt of Maureen Sibilla, Anne Marie Bouse, Molly Burns, Michelle Mondro, and Michael Miles.
As an esteemed educator, Barbara shaped countless minds as a Science, Biology, and Chemistry teacher at Maryvale Preparatory School, Cockeysville High School, and Dulaney High School. Her passion for knowledge was only matched by her dedication to her students, inspiring generations.
Barbara also found time to indulge in her passion for cinema, often attending Sunday showings at the Charles Theatre. She was a supporter of the Ravens and Orioles.
Barbara's life was a rich tapestry of dedication to education, family, and the environment. Her spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone she knew.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lemmon Funeral Home, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, for a memorial gathering from
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, Cockeysville, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030.
Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Lems’ name to Save the Children or Catholic Charities of Baltimore.
