Virginia Ann Hart, 87, of King City, passed away March 3, 2019. Virginia was born in Portland Oregon on February 6, 1932, and was the youngest of five sisters. She graduated from Blessed Sacrament Catholic grade school and Immaculata Academy. She was married to James A. Hart on February 16, 1952. Virginia was a lifetime active member of the Catholic Church. Many a Sunday she enjoyed brunch after Mass with her family.
Virginia and Jim often got together with family and friends, listening to big band music and going dancing. She was a homemaker, lovingly raising their 6 children, and loved spending time with their growing families. She was a gifted seamstress, tailoring clothes for her children, and even made her daughter’s wedding gown and bridesmaid’s dresses.
Virginia worked in clerical / secretarial positions for most of her career, including at First Interstate Bank, and retired after 15 years working for the Portland Police Chief. She continued working as a volunteer on a Federal grand jury for a few years afterwards.
She did love a great mystery novel, and Virginia found enjoyment reading, doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku, playing cards and board games, jigsaw puzzles, and watching Trailblazer basketball games. Other activities included Bunco and women’s bowling league.
Virginia enjoyed spending time with her large extended family, camping, boating, picnicking, and traveling to national parks, the ocean beaches, lakes and rivers of Oregon, as well as trips to the southwest states, and South Africa, Europe, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. After she moved to King City, Virginia loved going to Spirit Mountain Casino and on other excursions with the senior travel club.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband James in 2005, and her sisters Florence, Jean, Betty and Leona. She is survived by her daughters Karen Andress and Debra Anderson, and sons Robert, Michael, Ronald and Stan, as well as 25 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Joan Hart died in 1965.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, March 12th, 2019, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 9905 SW McKenzie Street, Tigard Oregon. Reception following in St. Anthony O’Reilly Hall. Interment at Willamette National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. A Rosary prayer service will be held the night before on Monday March 11th, 2019 at 7:00 pm at St. Anthony Church.
