Marlene "Molly" Johnson, 75, of Arvada, CO passed away on December 5, 2011 after an extended illness at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, CO. Molly was born on July 14, 1936 in Topeka, KS to Charles C. Chilson and Fern E. (Lewis) Chilson. She was the youngest of four children, having three older brothers, all preceding her in death. Molly grew up in the Topeka area until relocating to Las Vegas, NV in 1953, where she met the love of her life, Fred Johnson Sr. They were married in a small civil service on December 7, 1954. Thereafter Fred was discharged from the Air Force and they moved back to Fred's home town of Golden, CO. The family moved frequently for Fred Sr's work. Fred and Molly raised three children. two boys and a girl. Molly worked in many fields of employment throughout her life, however, her true calling was residential home health care for the elderly. Molly actually opened the first Colorado state licensed residential home care facility in Westminster, CO in the late 70's. She enjoyed this occupation until she retired. Her other enjoyments in life were sewing, knitting, & crocheting. With a needle and thread, Molly created magic. She could put together beautiful dresses for each granddaughter and was also known to make a poodle skirt or two! For the men in her life, she enjoyed embroidering designs on their blue work shirts. One would always hope to find one of her knitted or crocheted throws under the Christmas tree. Molly's dining room table was large for a reason. You always knew that you'd get the best groceries, because she was one heck of a cook and the highlight was Molly's lasagna dinner!! Molly is survived by oldest son, Fred (Debbie) Johnson Jr. of Longmont, CO; daughter Trudie (Mike) Finn of Lafayette, CO; son Chuck (Jeana) Johnson of Thornton, CO. Molly had 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Molly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers. Molly will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, Thornton, CO.
