Born on May 23, 1944 in Port Arthur TX, Hayden grew up with a sense of duty and responsibility that led him to proudly serve in the United States Army. He proudly served 2 tours in the Vietnam War where is impact was undoubtedly immense to the American efforts. His time in the military shaped him into a person of courage and dedication, values that he carried with him throughout his life. Following his military service, Hayden continued his commitment to public service by joining the Denver Police Department, where he climbed the ranks to become a respected Sergeant.
Hayden's dedication to the Denver Police Department was exemplary, and he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. As a Sergeant, he led with integrity and a deep sense of justice, leaving a lasting impact on the department and the community he served. Hayden also started the DPD’s first ever Bomb Dog Detection Unit at the airport. He and his beloved black lab, Lonestar were inseparable, and worked side by side for many years to ensure the safety of those around them.
While his professional achievements were commendable, Hayden's true pride and joy were found within his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather. His warmth, guidance, and playful spirit created lasting memories that will be treasured by his family for generations to come.
Hayden was known not only for his professional achievements but also for his caring and compassionate nature. Friends and family will remember him as a source of strength, comfort, and unwavering support.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 2:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary, a reception will follow at the Legacy Ridge Golf Course Club House in his honor.
