Dorothy Mildred Rodriguez

Dorothy Rodriguez, the eldest of 9 children, was born to Bennie and Elva Salazar in Pueblo, Colorado on September 18th, 1947. She is survived by her husband, John, who she affectionately called Juannie, her 4 daughters, Sheryl Lacey, Angela Barber, Jaime Lopez, Deborah Rangel, their husbands, 8 grandchildren, 3 of her brothers, her 3 sisters, and their families.

No one could ever ask for a better daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, or friend. She was known as a loving, generous, spunky, spitfire who could hold her own.

Dorothy and John met as teen-agers. She worked at an A & W and drove a red, 1953 Chevy convertible. She and John were married on November 22nd, 1966. They moved to Northglenn, Colorado in 1976 and have lived there ever since. Dorothy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1986. After retiring, she began pioneering and served as a regular pioneer for 10 years. She was affectionately referred to as a "pocket-sized” pioneer, but those who knew her best knew that despite her 4'11 1/2” height she claimed to be, (which in fact was more like 4'9”) her personality was 10 feet tall. Behind her quiet disposition in public, was an energy and strength her family and closest friends were privileged to enjoy.

Dorothy was a true artist. What’s the difference between a laborer, a craftsman and an artist? A laborerer uses his back. A craftsman, adds his mind. An artist, adds his heart. Dorothy was an artist in more ways than one. You can see it in her yard, her drawings, and in the way she studied her Bible.

She will be missed by all, but not forgotten, and certainly not forgotten by our loving, heavenly Father, Jehovah.
