Cheryl Melton, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 20th at her home in Broomfield, Colorado. She was born on October 30, 1955 in Denver, Colorado to the late Marvin and Gladys Spear. She was the 4th of five daughters.
Cheryl grew up and attended school in the Commerce City area. She graduated from Adam City High School in 1973. While attending Adams City High School, she met the love of her life, Richard Melton. They were married on June 2, 1974 at a Methodist Church in Commerce City, Colorado. Together they brought two wonderful children into their family when they had Randy in 1978 and Laura in 1988. Cheryl worked in a garden center for a short period of time, before having the most important job, staying home and raising both of their children. She spent her time trying to keep them both out of trouble, while also being happy. Once they grew up, she got to spend the rest of her time being something even better: Grandma.
Family was the most important thing to Cheryl. She was always wanting to help out in any way she could with her kids and grandkids. She loved playing with her grandkids, whether it was cards, board games, or with imaginext characters. She had a love for doing things with her grandkids whenever she was able, and spent the last 10 months enjoying things that she didn’t get to do that often earlier on in life. She gotta visit the zoo, go to garage sales during the summer, go out to eat and enjoy a margarita multiple times.
Cheryl is survived by a large family that includes her loving children Randy (Natasha) Melton of Henderson, Nevada and Laura (Jarrod) Haar of Broomfield, Colorado; precious grandchildren, Andrew, Zachariah, Demetria, Ryder, Haddalee, Akaia, Ronin, Raiden, and Leilani; siblings Janet, Linda (Mike), Greda (Steve), Carol (Deb); as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Melton, mother-in-law LaVonne Melton, mother and father, Marvin and Gladys Spear.
As always,
“Take it easy” and “Love you more, I win”
