Phillip was humble and humorous. It was fun working with him; his knowledge and etymology memorable. He will be missed. With love and condolences.

Donna and Family: I was just told today (Monday September 8th) the very sad news of Philip's passing. On behalf of myself and all the staff at AMI/VoicePrint we are so very saddened and want to express our sympathy and condolences. As you know, Philip and our organization go back many years in relationshiops and always welcomed such a very even going person and so very dedicated to causes.Our wish for you is a long and happy life and only good things for many years to come. Jerry and the staff of AMI/VicePrint.

When I was a Brownie, Daddy was the semaphore tester for the Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts.  That  meant he had to test me, his own daughter.  Since lawyers believe that you have not only to do right, but to be seen to do right, he wanted to be sure he couldn't be accused of favouratism.  Since I knew my semaphore inside out, I wasn't afraid of the challenge.  He gave me my sentence.  I asked him to repeat a few key words.  At eight years old, I was very confused when my sentence was:  



	"He is nothing but a sycophant, she assured her hostess."  I passed with flying colours, and I'm quite sure that I was the only eight year old to know the meaning of sycophant.

I first met Philip and his beautiful wife, Donna, on a trip to Turkey in 2001.  The ladies (on the trip) have been getting together ever since.  It was a wonderful trip and made long-lasting friendships.  I didn't see Philip often but had wonderful phone conversations .  He was a gentleman - and a gentle man.  I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

I met Phillip and Donna on a trip to Turkey years ago and many of us on that trip remained fast friends.  It was a magical trip with much laughter.  I can still picture Phillip and Donna watching the belly dancers in Capadocia one night (Donna had taken classes at the Granite Club).  I can still picture all off us in a boat (without life jackets) in rough water, crossing a lake to a river where we looked up at Lycian tombs.  I can still picture Phillip helping those of us who needed assistance on and off the bus.  Donna is one of the kindest most gracious of souls.  She is also one of the most amusing.  I know she  brought much love and great joy to Philip and continues to do so to those around her.  How fortunate for Philip to find her.  And how lucky his children to have such a wonderful stepmother.

I have worked at McCarthy's for 29 years and although I never worked directly with Mr. Walker, I would usually see him once a year at the Long Service Awards.  Always a gentleman, and once he knew your name, he never forgot it.  He was always genuinely intersted in what you were doing.  He had a great sense of humour.  I am reminded of the last time I saw him, which was at last year's Long Service Awards late last year.  He was standing with  Michael Croghan (another retired partner of the firm), and when I asked how he was doing, he said, "oh, we're just a couple of Romeos".  I was about to ask if their wives knew about this when he explained, that  they were Retired Old Men Eating Out.



	My sincerest condolences to the Walker family on your loss.

We wish to convey our sympathies to the Walker family, and especially to Jane whom we have known for many years. Her high spirits, deep intelligence and sense of loyalty surely reflect to some degree humane values acquired from her distinguished father. The long and accomplished life of a parent like Philip Walker teaches a lesson, and we see the happy results in his daughter. The greatest lesson of all is to live and to love well.
