Philip Clement Le Roi Cadogan, born on May 1, 1935 in St. Joseph, Barbados, died peacefully on Friday, June 18 at Sunnybrook Hospital. He was the son of the late Carlisle Hinds and Mabel Cadogan, husband of Valerie (Banfield), and father of Lucy Fields and Carlos Glasgow.
He was one of eight siblings. He was predeceased by Hubert, Elma, Emmerson, and Maria Hinds, and is survived by Vincent Cadogan, Claudine Griffith, Jean Hinds. He is the Father-in-law of The Rev. Canon Dr. Stephen Fields and Le-Tanya Glasgow, grandfather of Marc and Luke Fields, and Talia Glasgow and great-grandfather of Gabriella Fields.
He was a member of the Royal Barbados Police Force, retiring at the rank of Station Sergeant. He is known to his colleagues as "Clem” or “Station", and is remembered for wearing dark shades and beating his legs with his Force issued cane. He was described as one who was knowledgeable of the law and his job, easy to get along with, and loved to laugh.
He loved gardening and could be found sitting in the shade “talking to his flowers and vegetables”. He found delight in preparing meals for his family and friends. He never tire when discussing politics or international issues.
Philip’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support through prayers, visits or words during this time of bereavement. Thanks to the brothers of the Order of The Holy Cross who offered a Requiem Mass as they continue to support them in prayer. A special word of thanks to Dr. Papia, Dr. Reubenfeld and the staff of the Critical Care Unit of Sunnybrook Hospital.
Designated times for visitation at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home will be shared by the family. The service of celebration will take place on Saturday, July 10th at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church, Thornhill. In light of Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be by invitation only. The funeral service will be available via Live Stream (Link found below and under the title Service)
