Peacefully, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, Ruth Thompson, in her ninetieth year passed on to be with the God she walked with and loved all her life. She was the daughter of Frank and Zelma Thompson and was born in Coneston, Ontario. She is survived by her only brother, Arthington and his wife Elaine as well as her nieces and nephews; Michael and his wife Gift, Ian and his partner Tracey, Meghan and her husband Wayne and Grace and her husband John, and by great- nieces and nephews Theo, Charles, Josey, Ben, Alyna, Morgan, Jonathan and Jocelyn. Ruth was a long time active member of Spring Garden Baptist Church where she was librarian for 38 years and served as Deacon for children’s and women’s ministry. She had a long career as a teacher in North York and touched the lives of many students. Ruth will be missed by family and friends, especially by Faith Holwyn, her close friend and companion for the past twenty years. Special thanks to the staff of Norfinch Care Community where Ruth lived for the last 10 months of her life, Home Care Assistance for providing wonderful care for Ruth both at home and in nursing home, and to Sheena, Rowena and Landa. A funeral service will be held at Spring Garden Church, 112 Spring Garden Ave., on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2pm, with visitation one hour prior. (Parking lot entrance is off Kenneth Ave.) A private interment will take place at Carlyle Cemetery, Iron Bridge ON. In lieu of flowers donations to Canadian Baptist Ministries would be appreciated.
