March 2 1925 – November 2 2022
Mary Purvis passed away peacefully in her 98th year at Tansley Woods in Burlington. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Lynne (Craik), son Barry (Barb), grandson Carl (Jessie), great granddaughter Quinn, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Eva and Fred Dubas, her brothers Mike and Jerry, her sister Ann and most recently her younger sister Fedora.
Mary was always ready to help others in any way she could. She was very creative - in sewing, upholstering, knitting, crocheting and crafts. However, cooking and gardening were two of her passions. She was always looking for new recipes to add to her repertoire and excelled at her traditional Ukranian dishes. Mary also loved working in her garden tending to flowers, vegetables and fruit trees and was very generous in sharing the fruits of her labour.
In her working life, Mary was a trailblazer, often advocating for new policies, and operating a small business before it was common for women to do so.
Our heartfelt thanks to all who cared for and loved her at Tansley Woods where she was part of that family for the past six years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or other charity of your choice.
Visitation to be held at10 AM Monday November 7th with funeral at 11 AM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home 8088 Yonge Street Thornhill. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery followed by a reception at 8088 Yonge Street.
