Margaret Rose Williamson

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Rose Williamson (nee Turner) announce her passing on Monday, April 11th at the age of 87.

Marg passed peacefully at Southlake Regional Hospital surrounded by her surviving children and their spouses. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Harold and her son Scott (in his 50th year).

Margaret (Marg) was born at home in Weston, Ontario, the youngest of 5 children. She would often tell stories of how much grief she gave her mom when she was younger as she loved to push the boundaries. She met the love of her life, Harold Williamson in the summer of 1954. They married in 1956 and in short order had 3 children, Sandra, Judy and Steven. It would be 7 years later that the youngest son Scott was born. As a family, we were all involved with 5 pin bowling and have fond memories of the tournaments, dances and lifelong friends we made.

Marg & Harold were blessed with 13 grandchildren. Sandra and her husband Leo brought 7, yes 7 boys into the family, Michael, David, Bryan, Nicholas, twins Patrick & Christopher and Eric. Judy and her husband Peter had 4 girls, Jennifer, Stephanie, Rebecca & Christina. Steven and wife Jodi added 1 of each, Alyssa and Brandon.

In addition to the 13 grandchildren, Marg was blessed with 11 great grandchildren. Tucker, Chase, Ally, Jackson, Julia, Riley, Dylan, Hans, Cameron, Theo and Ruby. Marg had the pleasure of seeing all of them in person with the exception of Hans. Due to her declining health, she couldn’t make the trip to Nova Scotia but loved the pictures and videos she received. Marg left also knowing that another great granddaughter was on the way. What a legacy!

Marg loved socializing and over the years she accumulated quite the circle of friends from her bowling days to her workdays at Walmart and everything in between. Later in life when she was on her own, she would often invite one of her friends out for a drive just to see where the road would take them. The trip would always include a stop at a local restaurant for a meal.

Marg’s biggest pleasures in life included dining out and traveling whether it was the back roads of Ontario or visiting relatives and friends in other provinces or countries and most of all loved telling the stories of her adventures. Right up until the very end, she would amaze everyone with her vivid recollections of the meals she ate up to 60 years ago and the places she had been.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, July 12th with visitation from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service and reception.
