It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving husband and father on Tuesday May 20, 2008, at North York General Hospital. Joseph is predeceased by his parents George and Julia, sister Lucy, brothers Julian and Stanley and granddaughter Emma, and is survived by his sister Wanda and loving wife Irene. Joe and Irene were happily married for 63 years. A devoted father to Grant (Vera), Susan, George (Rhonda) and John (Patricia) and proud grandfather of Jessica, Sienna, Montana, Natalie, Jacob and Evelyn. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, nephews, nieces and especially Laurie Simpson. Born in Winnipeg, where he played hockey up to the Junior level, Joe enjoyed 36 energetic years with Air Canada, and devoted countless hours to charitable work, primarily with The Variety Club of Ontario (Tent 28). He was an avid golfer, as well as a dedicated Argo and Leaf fan. He rekindled his love for woodworking in his retirement years. Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St., North York (at Goulding south of Steeles Ave.), Friday May 23, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 21 Leith Hill Rd. North York, on Saturday May 24, 2008 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill. Reception will follow at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 21 Simonston Blvd., Thornhill. Memorial donations may be made to: The Emma Warecki Tribute Fund at The Hospital for Sick Children, The Variety Club of Ontario (Tent 28) or The Freeman Centre at North York General Hospital.
