Dear Constable Hong's family - you don't know me, but I am the mother of Constable Travis Gillespie who was killed Sept 14th.  I would like to offer my sincerest condolences on the death of Constable Hong.    I am praying for your family.

Dear Hong Family: Please accept my sincerest condolences on the devastating loss of Toronto Police Constable Andrew Hong, a dedicated police officer, a caring and loving husband, father and son. I watched on TV and was so touched at all the speeches and wonderful things everyone had to say about Andrew.  I cried the entire time, as it hit home in so many ways. I lost my husband 11 years ago and we were married 40 years. I feel for you on your Anniversary today Jenny and, my heart goes out to you. Plus I realized my brother, formerly Detective Mark Mendelson of the Toronto Police, was doing the commentary on CP 24. He was a Policeman for 29 years. This was such a horrible, senseless act that affected so many lives.  I was so impressed by the incredible amount of strength that Jenny and Mia had to do that eulogy.  Andrew is looking down and would have been very proud. Toronto Police Constable Andrew Hong, thank you for your service and keeping us all safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May the wonderful memories you shared over the years comfort you and your family at this very difficult time. Andrew, you will be great missed by everyone. Rest in Peace, Gentle Giant.  

Dear Jenny, Mia , Alex, Family, Friends and Colleagues.  I did not have the Pleasure of knowing your Dad.  His face exuded, kindness  warmth humour and compassion. 
He was so loving, an inspirational hero. I’m so sorry for this senseless tragedy. Everyone get The Gun and Parole Laws Changed etc. God Bless all of you. May all of you heal . Thank you to your magical, passionate and dedicated Dad. For all of his years of Service. May you both continue to excel. Never know anymore heartache. 


My deepest condolences to the Hong family. I watched the service on tv and did not have a dry eye. I cried the most when the family spoke about their father and husband. Happy Wedding Anniversary Jenny and Andrew. He was taken far too young. Be strong and be there for one another. I know all too well what it's like to have family members gone young. To the Hong family…I just finished watching the eulogy’s said by by Jenny and Mia…you are so strong and your words so well said. Obviously Andrew was a real strength in your lives and we are so sorry you have lost him.  He would be so proud of you.  Stay strong and know there are many standing beside you and we thank you for sharing your husband and father with us, the city of Toronto.  His service was so appreciated him.

I am so sad and sorry to hear about your son, brother,  husband and dad,  Toronto Police Constable, Andrew Hong.   I  went to elementary school and had shared secondary school classes  with him.    All I can 
 remember was that he was a super nice person , total gym guy with a great demeanor  who was always had a smile with a huge memorable laugh .    May Andrew have eternal  peace. rest and life and may God Bless your family, friends and colleagues  with comfort , guidance, strength , faith,  and healing.

God bless Officer Andrew Hong. I worked as a Civilian for 30 years at HQ. I understand and feel for thePolice family, and most of all, his own family, his wife, 2 kids and Parents! RIP. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻I was also married to a Police Officer!

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss of a truly upstanding fine man. This is just so sad. I watched the video and there are many great memories for your family to preserve and reminisce. He lived a life of service which is the most noble way to live. Stay strong, keep his memory alive by living honourably just like him. AH and I were in each other’s lives in what seemed a lifetime ago, when we became friends in our last year of high school.  I will forever cherish all the memories, the silly and serious, the highs and lows, and everything  in between.  

Andrew, thank you for all the laughter & craziness when we were young and foolish. 

For still giving me highway driving lessons even after I accidentally ran over the blue bin in your driveway. For those road trips decided by random darts on a map & your love of adventures that I grew to appreciate later in life.

Dear Andrew,
I am so, so sorry this tragedy happened to you and your family.  You are a pillar of a person, beloved husband, fantastic dad and just a really nice guy to all that had the honor of knowing you.  You were always supporting the cause in a humble, mild mannered way but were always a magnetic presence.  I will miss your commentaries when viewing our team basketball videos cheering on our girls and swaying the refs to make a call go our way.  I was honored to be at the mass - I really loved the video pictures presentation - It showed your true self - a man that loved his wife and kids, his motor bike and being an officer, fishing and the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.  You will be forever remembered and missed by all.
