Pearl Dollar Hughes Hill, age 94, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born April 1, 1929, in Valle Crucis, NC, the daughter of the late Earl Benson and Nealie Angeline Eggers Dollar.
During her life, Pearl worked at Ragan Hosiery Mill and Kaby Hosiery Mill. She volunteered at Thomasville Medical Center in the surgical waiting area. Pearl was a faithful lifetime member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy Hughes Stafford (Ron) of Indiana, Faye Hughes Hege of Little River, SC, Rae Nell Hughes Smith (Carl) of Trinity, Janice Hughes Thompson (Larry) of Lexington, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and children, grandchildren and extended family of John Hill, Sr.
In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her first husband, David Lindsay Hughes and second husband, John Cleveland Hill, Sr.; brother, Ray Ford Dollar; and sister, Ella Dollar Beam.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Hughes Grove Baptist Church, with Reverend John C. Hill, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends and loved ones Monday evening from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations in Thomasville and other times at the home of Pearl Hill.
