Betty was born in Lenoir City, TN, October 16, 1938, a daughter of the late Ezra and Georgia Thomas Sexton. She worked in hosiery for many years and retired from Guilford County Schools Nutritional Department after 20 years of service. Betty was a FAITHFUL member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Thomasville, and was actively involved in the Young at Heart and the W.M.U. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Barbara Carter, Euell Sexton, Kenneth Sexton and Curtis Sexton. Betty deeply loved her family and church family.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Bruce W. Draughn; a daughter, Teresa Medlin and her husband Derek; a son, Mark Draughn and his wife Heather; a grandson, Chase Draughn; two brothers, Barney Sexton and his wife Frankie and Gary Sexton; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Betty's life will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church, 1010 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, NC 27360 by the Rev. Mitchell Hayworth and Rev. Benny Vickery. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service and the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be observed.
