When God closes one door, He opens another. Vicki Ann Jordan, 59, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loving family on April 1, 2014, and was taken to her final home, following a last, courageous battle with cancer.
Vicki was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a dear and loyal friend to countless others. She was born in Chicago, IL, on June 2, 1954, to Jim and Virginia DiSanti, and grew up in Mount Prospect, IL.
Following her graduations from Prospect High and Western Illinois University, Vicki began a passionate 35 year career teaching special needs children in Hardin, MT in 1976. Although her time in Hardin was short, the friends and memories from Montana have always held a special place in Vicki’s heart.
Vicki met husband and eternal sweetheart Jim Jordan through mutual friends on New Year’s Eve in 1975, and they were married in Mount Prospect, IL on September 23, 1978. They worked and lived in the Chicago suburbs until a job change for Jim brought them to a new home and wonderful life in Spring, TX in 1984. Shortly thereafter, Vicki’s pride and joy, Kyle, was born a “native Texan” on January 23, 1985. As Kyle grew up, Vicki and Kyle fast became best buddies, and her beautiful soul and spirit will always live on through Kyle.
In addition to husband Jim, and son Kyle, Vicki is survived by mother Virginia DiSanti, brother Michael (spouse Mary) DiSanti, and sister Patti (spouse Michael) Nelson. She also had the privilege of spoiling five nieces (Stephanie, Rachel, Lara, Monica, and Natalie) and two nephews (Aaron and Marc) who she loved dearly. Vicki is pre-deceased by father Jim DiSanti, and nephew Aaron DiSanti. Vicki had a strong Catholic faith, which she shared with her family, and it provided her with the strength and inner peace required for the difficult journey she endured over the last two years.
Among Vicki’s many passions were children and babies. In recent years, she worked for Project Keep Pace, and always felt privileged to have the opportunity to help shape the lives of the pre-school children in this program. Vicki was also passionate about her five Old English sheepdogs (Travis, Chelsea, Molly, Cassie, and Karly), who she lovingly referred to as “Mamma’s Baby Angels”. Vicki enjoyed playing Texas Hold’em with friends, and had a special love for dolphins, rainbows, angels, wind chimes, the rock group “Journey”, and ANYTHING made out of chocolate!
There will be a memorial service celebrating Vicki’s joyful life on Saturday, April 12th at 2:00 pm, at Forest Park The Woodlands, Funeral Home & Cemetery, with a reception immediately following at the funeral home from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Vicki’s memory to either the Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT, or the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, FL.
