Rudolph “Rudy” Almaguer of The Woodlands, Texas died peacefully surrounded by family on July 4, 2022 at the age of 90. Born in San Antonio, Texas to his parents Rudolfo and Rita on October 19, 1931, he was the oldest of two children.
“Rudy,” as he was known to everyone, graduated from Texas A&M University in 1953 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Rudy was proud to be part of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and on the Corps Command Staff. After graduation Rudy enlisted in the United States Army. After serving his country during the Korean War, he retired honorably as First Lieutenant, Signal Corp United States Army. Rudy then went on to a 30+ year successful career at IBM mainly as the Global Manager for the Petrochemical Team based in Houston, Texas.
He retired in June of 1993 from IBM in Irving, Texas. Rudy was encouraged to participate in the Senior Olympics and after that he was hooked. He won countless gold, silver and bronze medals in the javelin, discus and shot put events but his main love and best event was the javelin. Rudy was a longtime member of Woodlands Church.
On September 1, 1984 in Jackson, Mississippi Rudy married his wife of 38 years Barbara Jordan Almaguer. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents Rudolfo and Rita and his sister Yolanda Jensen, of San Antonio, TX.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara. Additionally, his five children: Michael Almaguer and his wife Kim of Richmond, TX; Randy and his wife Debbie of The Woodlands, TX; David and his wife Jill of Sugar Land, TX; Jackie and her husband Scott Humphrey of Gonzales, TX; and Blake Almaguer and his wife Callie of Fairview Park, OH. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Austin and his wife Alison and their daughters Zora and Eiza; Ryan and his wife Kendall; Chase and his fiancé Marcela and her daughter Max; Jakob Humphrey; Jaron Humphrey and Savannah Almaguer. His surviving nephew is Harvey Jensen, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Austin Almaguer, Ryan Almaguer, Chase Almaguer, Jakob Humphrey, Jaron Humphrey and Scotty Trawick.
