Robert C. 'Bob' Broadhurst, Jr. slipped quietly away from this life on October 1, 2019 at the age of 85. Born in San Antonio, Texas to Marian Lewis Broadhurst and Robert C. Broadhurst, Sr. on October 7, 1933, he is survived by his wife Melanie Evans Broadhurst; daughter Jamie (Sammy); son Trey (Aimee); and his granddaughters Lauren and Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held, on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 1:45pm, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, where he will be interred with full military honors.
Mr. Broadhurst was raised in Crowley, Louisiana and a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He loved his LSU Fightin' Tigers! After college he served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Captain.
Most often known as Mr. Bob or Uncle Bob, he was a kind and humble gentleman and he never passed up an opportunity to help someone. He always remembered to say thank you, and it was sincere. Not surprisingly, he always pulled for the underdog. Over his lifetime he helped countless others, in various ways, most of them anonymously. He was an avid sportsman throughout his life. In recent years, he enjoyed his retirement and never tired of reading and learning, especially about history and he was a wonderful storyteller.
In lieu of flowers the family asks you buy a cup of coffee for a stranger or find a way to help someone otherwise in need.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.
