Norma was born on August 23, 1930 in Onalaska, Texas, to her parents Luther and Reba Youngblood Hilton. She graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, Texas.
Norma was creative, industrious, hard-working, independent, and humorous. One of her very first jobs was working at the popcorn/cotton-candy stand at the Houston Zoo when she was just a young girl. Although her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, she spent her career working side by side with her husband, Robert, at their drugstore and gift shop for many years. They opened with South Street Pharmacy, followed by O’Neal Pharmacy and then Tanglewood Pharmacy, in Houston, Texas. Her hobbies included singing when she was young, crafts of all kinds, sewing, and decorating for the holidays. Her family and friends will always remember her love and generosity for her family, her special love for babies, and her beautifully handmade Santa Clauses.
Norma is survived by her husband, Robert Ray O’Neal, 88, of Steedman, Missouri; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Hilton & Dawn O’Neal of Magnolia, Texas; Brent Wayne & Brenda O’Neal of Shenandoah, Texas; 6 grandchildren and their spouses and 18 great-grandchildren; Jonathan and Michelle O’Neal, Meredith and Tim Harris, Brittany and Marcin Vaclaw, Chelsea and Casey Baugh, Sydney and Nathan Memmott, and Riley and Kassi O’Neal. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Hilton and James and Marie Hilton. All of whom she loved very much.
