Mary Jo Anderson, 94, of Oak Ridge, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 10, 2021. She was born in Trinity, TX on October 12, 1926 to Wyatt and Lillie Cleveland. Mary Jo graduated from Trinity High School where she met her husband Gerald. The high school sweethearts married on June 10, 1944 in Hunstville, TX and had 4 children, Charles, Jo Lynette, Patsy and Martha.
Mary Jo was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church for more than 30 years and active in the Sunday school program for much of that time. She was known for her spunky personality, strong will, eccentric fashion and always being the “hostess with the mostess”. She enjoyed dancing from a very young age, from taking tap and ballet classes to cutting a rug out on the dance floor with Gerald. She also loved to sing her favorite tunes, especially if you handed her a mic and made her the center of attention. She loved the time she spent with each of her children and their families, especially after Gerald’s passing.
Mary Jo was a loving wife and devoted mother who lived by example. She never met a stranger, was adored by everyone who knew her and will truly be missed by all that came to know her.
Mary Jo is proceeded in death by her husband Gerald, brothers Y.C. and Charles Cleveland and great grandson Joey Jeffers. She leaves behind her 4 children, Charles Anderson (Hopie), Jo Lynette Medeiros, Patsy Franek (Victor) and Martha Langston (Reggie), 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
