Kay was born on July 7, 1943 in Houston, Texas to parents Robert M. Anderson, Sr. and Norline Gunn Anderson.
Kay attended Stephen F. Austin High School, graduating in 1961. Following her graduation from Baylor University in 1965 with a degree in Accounting, Kay moved to Houston and accepted a position as Accountant with Exxon Company U.S.A. Kay’s career spanned more than 37 years in energy which led to her being recognized as one of the 100 most influential people in the gas and power industry. Her talent and hard work created a career path to executive level positions such as Sales Manager, Industrial and Distributor Natural Gas and Senior Advisor. Kay also served as Loaned Executive to the United Way of Houston where she contributed her expertise and experience for several years.
Kay was an active member of the Stephen F. Austin Scottish Brigade Alumnae Association and enjoyed lifelong friendships with classmates over the years. In both her career and social life, Kay was known for her huge smile and positive outlook and she developed friendships that lasted her whole life. Her family and friends will always remember her outgoing spirit and her positive and supportive nature in relating to others.
Kay Anderson is predeceased by her parents and brother, Robert M. Anderson, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Glenn Anderson of The Woodlands, her sisters-in-law Collette Anderson of Houston and Margo Rogers of Dallas, her niece Dawn Kram and family of Houston, niece Shawn Loup and family of San Antonio, nephew Jimmy Anderson and family of Houston, and niece Katrina Frank and family of Seattle, Washington.
A service to celebrate the beautiful life of Kay Anderson will be held in the near future.
