John 11:26
John William Lovell, 77, was surrounded by his family when left this earth to be with the Lord on February 26, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1945 in London, England to his mother Ellen and lived in Shepherd’s Bush with his mum and sister Kay. Due the extreme poverty post WWII in London, at the age of three, John lived at the National Children’s Home for two years followed by three foster homes, he later returned to live with his mum in 1958. The last family to foster John, were the Pearsons, which included, Mum and Dad P and their sons Pearcy and Stanley Bernard and Liz. John credited the five years he lived with the Pearsons as positively shaping his adolescence and young adult years and he remained close to the whole family throughout his life.
John worked on various ships from 1963 to 1971. During his time at sea, John met and married his first wife, Maureen Martland in 1970. They had three children together, Suzie, his eldest daughter, Matthew his middle son, and Howard his youngest son. In 1974, John graduated from college with a B.SC in Maritime Studies. Upon graduation, John worked in Operations at Blandford and in 1976 began working as a Ship Manager with Denholm Ship Management in Glasgow later transferring to Houston, TX (his family would later follow) and later becoming president of Gleneagle Ship Management. In June of 1992, John started his own company, Alliance Marine Services, which he served as president until his retirement in 2019. In the twenty-seven years of operations, Alliance Marine Services had an excellent reputation in the market and employed many people both ashore and afloat, providing service to a total of 24 FPSO or similar units deployed worldwide.
John met his second wife, Jayme, in 1985 while they were both on holiday with their children in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. Jayme had three children of her own, eldest daughter Dana, middle daughter Tina and youngest son Jason. They married in 1989, blending both their families into one. John and Jayme celebrated life and enjoyed close to thirty-five years of marriage. They share six children, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Family was John’s highest priority. He remained close to his mum Ellen and sister Kay throughout their lives as well as the Pearson family. He was a consistent loving presence to his family and is survived by his wife Jayme and their children; Suzie (Adrian), Matthew (Liz), Howard (Audrey), Dana (Paul), Tina (John) and Jason (Mindi) as well as his grandchildren; Alexa, Jacob, Arik, Maddison, Justin, Ian, Toby, Owen, Tyson, Sean and Miles and great grandchild, Maverick. His love, patience, strength, honesty and loyalty will be missed by his entire family and the many friends he’s made along the way.
