Dr. Joe Raymond McGlaun Sr.

Dr. Joe Raymond McGlaun Sr., known affectionately as Joe to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, at the age of 75, in Tomball, Texas. Born on July 23, 1949, to the late Raymond McGlaun Jr. and Doris (Turner) McGlaun and raised in Nederland, Texas, Joe was a man whose life was marked by his intelligence, wisdom, and the fascinating stories he gathered throughout his years.

Joe's educational journey began at Lamar University and culminated with his graduation from Texas Chiropractic College in May 1971. With a passion for healing and helping others, Joe dedicated many years to his chiropractic practice in Montgomery County, Texas, where he was known for his skilled hands and compassionate heart. His commitment to community service was further exemplified during his tenure as the proud Mayor of Shenandoah, Texas, where he served with integrity and dedication.

Joe's personal life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his previous wife and the mother of his children, Anna Sadler McGlaun; his children, Joe Raymond McGlaun Jr. and his wife Caroline, Amy McGlaun Harvey and her husband Bob, Mandy McGlaun Johnston and her husband Trent, and Lacey Renee McGlaun; his sister, Doris Ann Myers; and his cherished grandchildren, Wyatt McGlaun, Madeleine McGlaun, Emily Johnston, and Lauren Johnston. Each family member held a special place in Joe's heart, and he was a guiding light in their lives.

An avid reader, Joe firmly believed that "knowledge is power," a sentiment famously expressed by Sir Francis Bacon. He lived by this principle, always with a book in hand, eager to learn more about the world and share his insights with others. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and his conversations were often as enlightening as they were entertaining.

Joe's love for the land was rooted in his fondness for the family farm in Bedias, Texas—a place that held generations of memories. It was here, in the tranquility of the countryside, that Joe found his happiest moments, whether he was tending to the fields or simply enjoying the company of his family.

Described by those who knew him as intelligent, wise, and interesting, Joe's legacy is one that will be remembered for its depth and breadth. His life was a testament to the belief that one should never stop learning or striving to make a positive impact on the world and the people around them.

Dr. Joe Raymond McGlaun Sr. will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit, teachings, and stories will continue to inspire and guide us, even as we mourn his passing. A Celebration of Life will occur Sunday November 24, 2024 at 1:00PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. A catered reception will happen immediately afterwards from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.
