Jerry Dwayne Dent, 56, a resident of Magnolia, Tx, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was born August 6, 1964 in Tyler, Tx to Bonnie Ruth and George Dent. Jerry grew up in Splendora and Ore City, Tx and attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. Blessed with a sharp mind and a drive to succeed, he was a software engineer who co-wrote the first point of sale system for Pappas Restaurants where he learned the values of great customer service and treating your employees well. A life-long entrepreneur, Jerry was a driving force in developing the Houston market for Smoothie King franchises. He was an owner of several Montgomery County businesses, most recently House of Thai Massage Therapy in Magnolia, Tx. A loving father to Hayden and Ethan, Jerry was a fan of all of their activities, from t-ball, soccer and swimming, to marching band, Japanese competitions and dungeons and dragons. He was an avid tennis player and member of The Woodlands Country Club. He attended The Woodlands Bible Church. Jerry loved being outdoors and travelling near and far. With a larger-than-life personality, Jerry loved being with friends and family and was always ready to dance or join in a game of Corn Hole, Texas Hold ‘Em or a party of any size. A kind and generous person who loved to laugh and share whenever he could, Jerry’s joyful spirit and infectious laughter will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his father, George Franklin Dent. Survivors include his sons, Hayden and Ethan Dent, fiancée Pattraporn “Kay” Unkeaw, ex-wife and best friend Mary Margaret Dent, mother & stepfather Bonnie Ruth and Troy Bailey, stepmother Deedra Bowers Dent, sisters Paula Parsley and Rhonda Jackson, step siblings Kevin, Todd and Teresa Bailey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His life will be celebrated Saturday, May 22 at Forest Park Funeral Home in The Woodlands, Tx at 2 pm with family visitation at 1.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Jerry’s honor be made to National Foundation for Transplants, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the Montgomery County Food Bank.
