Hulene Mavis Dittrich Bell, 94, of Beaumont and Spring, Texas, made her transition on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 5:43 pm. She was born on January 24, 1922 to Hugo and Elizabeth (Votaw) Dittrich in Bosque County near Cranfill’s Gap, Texas where she grew up on a farm. She had seven siblings: three brothers and three sisters – CF, Ovie, Edwin, Eleanor, Vondel, Jackie and a baby sibling who died at birth.
Hulene spent the last eight years of her life in assisted living. The family is grateful for the loving care of the earthly angels who cared for her at Silverado in The Woodlands, Atria and Spring Creek Village in Spring, Texas. They brought Hulene back to life, loved and pampered her in her last years, months and days of her life. Her husband, Eugene, was able to spend time with Hulene in her last days; it was a precious reunion for both of them and surely supported Hulene's peaceful passing.
Hulene was well loved. She was a sweet soul. She had an innocent spirit and a curious mind. Tim had a wonderful and special bond with his mother. They would give each other a hug and say, “Let’s stay like this forever.” She was a loving mother-in-law, too. Her arms and heart were open to Laura Jean from the moment they met. Hulene had a strong will to live, and lived a long and good life. She is comfortable and at peace with God now and with all the loved ones who have gone before her.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Velten Bell; her son, Timothy Lee Bell; and her daughter-in-law, Laura Jean Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and daughter, Cynthia Lynn Bell.
There will be no formal service at this time. The family will have a small and private ceremony of their own at a later date.
