My deepest sympathy to you Libby, Wendy and Mandy.  It is hard to lose any family member, but so much harder when he has been such an incredible person.  It is obvious that the best of both Aunt Neta Mae and Uncle John R.'s character qualities were interwoven in Duane.  Duane was on-track from the beginning of his life and never failed to sincerely show he cared, to gently lead, yet he never turned the attention to himself. He had understanding beyond his years even as a young man.  Two verses in Matthew 5 come to mind:  5.) Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.  9.) Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.  He blessed many lives.  Oh, to be able to blend qualities of strength, gentleness and humility into our lives as he did.  We will be praying for you for months to come.

My Lawnmover Man,

I can't say enough good things about you. With the absence of my father, you took me under your wing and treated me like your own. Your calm, cool presence was refreshing and your quick remarks under your breathe, still bring a smile to my face. Thank you for showing me what a good father and man was made of. I am beyond grateful for the time I shared with you.

My wife an I are sorry to hear about the loss of Duane. When we were younger we when to the same church as Duane and his family. We ran around with Karen & David.

My heart goes out to you Libby, Wendy and Mandy, as well as the rest of your family. John always spoke so highly of his Uncle Duane and it was an honor that I was able to meet him this past Christmas. My prayers are with you all.

Duane and Libby allowed me to live with them for a short while after I graduated high school back in the 70's, I was looking for my independence and they were kind enough to allow me to live with them to get my start, which I will always be grateful for. Duane was such a fun loving and kind gentleman. Duane had a sharp looking Triumph motorcycle and I once asked him to teach me to drive it and so he got on back with me and said let out on the clutch slowly and give it a little gas, well I obviously gave it too much gas as the front wheel came up off the ground, he immediately took over and said you really scared me and I think you gave it a little too much gas, so he took the front seat and drove us back to his house. I will never forget that. We had lots of fun together on motorcycle drives with our mutual friends. Although I didn't see much of Libby and Duane as my husband and I lived in Hawaii for 25 years, we did get to see Duane and speak with him briefly at our cousins funeral about a year ago. He looked wonderful and I am so glad I go to reconnect with him in that short moment. Libby I know there isn't anything that I can say that will make everything alright but just know that you and your family are in my prayers. I know that words can't describe how you must feel, and I'm so sorry that your heart aches. I do want you to know that you had one heck of a dad. He was incredible and was so good to me personally. He was like a second dad to so many of us and I pray peace over you. Now he's up in heaven with my mom watching over us. Love you Mae.
