We are sad to announce the passing of Dorothy S. Arnold on December 1, 2024. Dorothy passed from this life peacefully at home in League City while holding the hand of her husband, Euell (Buddy) Arnold.
Dorothy was born June 3, 1934, in Walker County, Texas. She met Euell in November of 1952, and they were married on December 4, 1953. They had four children and kept a beautiful home, no matter where they lived.
Dorothy’s faith was extremely important to her. She was, most recently, a member of Christ Church Methodist in the Woodlands, but for most of her life she was an active member of Southern Baptist Churches where she served as Sunday School teacher to various age groups. She was a listener and prayer warrior to many friends and people around her who were in need. While she contributed to many philanthropic organizations around the world, she was passionate about Baptist missions and contributed to and prayed for mission work and missionaries around the world and nearby.
Dorothy was ahead of her time as a highly successful career woman working in the corporate banking world. She retired from Bank of America as a Senior Vice President. Her drive for her career was matched by her passion for art and beauty, which was showcased primarily through her expert skill with a paintbrush and a sewing machine. Her children and grandchildren cherish the art and beautiful clothing she left behind, along with the many fond memories of doing art and craft projects together. While she suffered with tremors in the later weeks and months of her life, when she held a colored pencil or a paint pen, her hand was steady and she had a mental focus that we didn’t often see at other times.
Dorothy and Buddy have been married for nearly 71 years. They shared a beautiful life together that we have been fortunate enough to witness. Their priorities have always been to love their Savior, to love each other and to love their family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Euell F. Arnold, III, and her daughter, Diana Fae Shaul. She is survived by her husband, Buddy, her daughters, Elizabeth Johnson and Shera “Missy” Hoffart, her sons-in-law, Steve Johnson and David Shaul, along with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
We invite you to join with us on Sunday, December 8th, for a dessert gathering with family and friends at 2:00 PM, followed by a short service at 3:00 PM to celebrate and remember Dorothy’s life. The gathering and service will both be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A private interment will occur later at the VA cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at
