In 1971, David graduated from Rutgers University, in New Brunswick, NJ, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He also attended The Wharton School at the University of PA, for Dean Witter’s Branch Manager Training program. In 2003, David attended The American College of Financial Services, in Bryn Mawr, PA, and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Financial Consultant® designations.
David began his financial services career at Merrill Lynch in 1972. Highlights of his 48-year career included being a member of the New York Stock Exchange and numerous management positions with major brokerage firms, including positions as Senior Vice President and Branch Manager.
In 2010, David became an independent Financial Advisor when he co-founded Aventura Family Office. Using his breadth of experience and his signature humor, David provided financial strategies to hundreds of families, many of whom became close friends. On July 4, 2011, he married Susan Dingle, his best friend, business partner and co-founder of Aventura Family Office.
David enjoyed family vacations at the beach and snow skiing in Telluride, golf, trap shooting, and woodworking. Over the last 12 years, David spent much of his free time on the extensive renovation of their 150-year-old historic home in Galveston, TX. He also held membership with The Knights of Momus, the oldest Mardi Gras krewe in Galveston, dedicated to the social and civic efforts of Galveston's historic Mardi Gras.
He is preceded in death by his parents; George and Anne Thomson Hill, and his son; Tyler Hill.
David leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Susan Hill of The Woodlands, TX, former spouse, Carol Hill of Spring, TX, daughter; Chelsea Hill of Spring, TX, two grandchildren; Kyra and Cannon Martinez of Spring, TX, brother; Graham (Lisa) Hill of Tomball, TX, nephew; Nicholas (Carmen) Hill of Katy, TX, niece; Hannah (Kevin) Dandy, of Tomball, TX, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A "Celebration of Life" for David will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 PM followed by a Reception from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
