I’m gone now. Bye.
Claire “Cookie” Rose, 78, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2021. Claire
was born and raised in The Bronx, New York. She achieved her Nursing degree at Monmouth
University before going on to serve as a Field Nurse in the U.S. Air Force. Life and the Air Force
brought her to Texas where, for the next 50 years, she stubbornly clung to her New
Yawk accent, balanced with an appreciation for Tex-Mex food.
Claire is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Tim Joniec, and Shea
and Matt Stromberg; and her grandchildren, Britton, Porter, and Moe. Claire was
preceded in death by her parents, William and Leta Smith, and her favorite sister, Leona Smith.
Claire embodied organization, sarcasm, compassion, and a minimalist style. Her motto was
“simplify.” Following her clear wishes, there will not be a public service.
Well-wishers are encouraged to share a memory with the family or write a note of farewell.
