Carolyn Sue Walk Mills, age 76, entered the gates of Heaven on September 25, 2017 after a brief illness. Carolyn was born on March 21, 1941 in Houston, Texas, the beloved only child of Marguerite and Edwin Walk. She was born into the Kingdom of God on March 7, 1965 and was a faithful servant of Christ throughout her life by teaching youth Sunday school, singing in the choir and studying the Bible.
After graduating from Sam Houston High School and Massey Business College, Carolyn married Glendon Herbert Mills on June 2, 1961. She worked as an executive secretary in the oil and gas industry for 35 years, retiring from Enron in 1996. Upon retirement, Glendon and Carolyn moved to Pennington, Texas and enjoyed the quiet country life. Married for 40 years at the time of Glendon’s death on January 1, 2002, they raised their three daughters in Houston and Spring, Texas. After Glendon's passing, Carolyn moved back to Houston to be near family. Carolyn will be remembered for her kindheartedness, generosity, great cooking, and above all, love for her family.
Carolyn is preceded in death by husband, Glendon H. Mills; parents, Edwin and Marguerite Walk.
She is survived by daughters, Belinda Mills of Tomball, TX; son-in-law, Randy Rodine of Houston, TX, Angie and Chris Tierney of Wilmette, IL, Lorrie and Phil Leyba of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Brandon Herzog of Houston, TX, Ashley Sliwa of Frisco, TX, Courtney Rodine of Midland, TX, Ian Leyba of Magnolia, TX, Grace Tierney of Madison, WI, Ella Carolyn Tierney of Austin, TX, Chloe Tierney of Wilmette, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 2, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands with a reception to follow in the Event Room. There will be a graveside service at Holly Grove Cemetery, County Line Rd S, Livingston, Texas 77351 at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 2.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her memory.
