Barbara, a native Houstonian, graduated from Lamar High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Gill, for 23 years. During that time they loved to cook together, watch sports together, including their beloved Houston Oilers and Texas Longhorns, and travel. Barb and Gill loved to throw parties for their friends and their childrens’ friends and she gained the nickname Pom Pom Mom at one of them. Once they moved to Northampton subdivision in 1969 Barb began working first at Northampton Elementary and then later at the Central Office where she retired from Klein I.S.D. after 29 years of service.
Barbara loved to volunteer and served in her church, neighborhood civic organizations, and with the American Heart Association. In later years she enjoyed attending bible studies, playing bingo, doing art projects and going shopping, lots of shopping.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Gill, parents George and Nora, and her sister Nora Jean and brother George.
She is survived by her daughter Laura Speer; son Kevin Speer and daughter-in-love Denise Speer; many nieces and nephews and loving relatives and friends.
